Party urges more Taiwan youth participation in 2022 Beijing Games
Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League, one of the eight non-Communist political parties in the Chinese mainland, proposed that youth from Taiwan should actively participate in the upcoming Winter Olympics to be held in Beijing and Zhangjiakou in 2022.
The central committee of the league will come up with a proposal at the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which will open on March 3. The proposal will appeal and organize Taiwan youth to volunteer at the Games.
The proposal suggests setting up an experience camp for Taiwan young volunteers during the preparation for the 2022 Winter Olympics to give more Taiwan youth opportunity to take part in the Games. According to the league, many Taiwan young people show great enthusiasm for the volunteer service at the 2022 Winter Olympics. However, there is no official platform to provide information and organize services.
The proposal says young people from Taiwan will receive professional training in the camp which will prepare them well for the volunteering service during various events in the Games.
The Winter Olympics is a platform to expand the communication channel between youth from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, according to the proposal.
The league also proposes to form regular working system to recruit and train Taiwan young volunteers.
