    More than 30 media editors and journalists from 14 countries and regions including China, Sweden, Belgium, Japan, India, Afghanistan and Malaysia flocked to Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang, on Aug 25.

    The seven-day interview event, organized by the State Council Information Office of China, aims to learn about the construction of transportation hubs and trade logistics as well as the history and culture in the core zone of the Silk Road Economic Belt.

    The editors and journalists visited the Urumqi Assembly Center for China-Europe freight trains, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum and Xinjiang Software Park for interviews.

    Nan Jun, deputy general manager of Xinjiang New Rail International Logistics, said that as of now, China-Europe freight trains have opened 19 routes to Central European and Central Asian countries, connecting 23 countries and regions including Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain.

    Transportation goods cover industrial machinery equipment, chemical products, clothing and building materials.

    The assembly center has transformed Xinjiang into a world logistics distribution center for economic and trade exchanges between China and Europe.

    "More and more Chinese enterprises are coming to Belgium to develop railways, highways, aviation, automobile manufacturing and other industries. I am very happy to see how China-Europe freight trains connect China and Europe," said Bruno Colman, a journalist from L'Echo in Belgium.

    After visiting Xinjiang Software Park, Chen Xueyu, editor-in-chief of Green Post, said Xinjiang's cloud technology and high-tech is rapidly developing. Xinjiang will play an important role in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative with its transportation, geographical advantages, and rich cultural heritages.

    The deputy director of the international department of NHK, a?Japanese national media outlet,?learned Chinese at Renmin University in China. He took many photos in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum and said he could feel the rich history and culture, as well as unique customs of Xinjiang.
