Dazzling fireworks light up Beijing at the evening gala to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China at Tian'anmen Square in Beijing on Oct 1, 2019.

Current and former leaders of foreign countries and international organizations have sent congratulatory messages to President Xi Jinping to convey their best wishes on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

New Development Bank President Kundapur Vaman Kamath said that never in human history has a country lifted hundreds of millions of people out of poverty in such a short period of time and led them onto a path of sustainable development. China has provided other developing countries with rich experience, he said. Kamath said his bank appreciates China's vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and looks forward to deepening cooperation.

World Intellectual Property Organization Director General Francis Gurry noted in a message that China had made tremendous progress in the field of intellectual property in the past 70 years, and his organization highly appreciates China's support for multilateralism. He said he looks forward to the Chinese people making more outstanding achievements on the path of prosperity and development in the future.

French President Emmanuel Macron said the France-China relationship has been close and durable, noting that the two countries, both permanent members of the UN Security Council, shoulder a special responsibility to human society. Macron added that he is looking forward to working with Xi in taking cooperation to a new level, and to jointly boosting multilateralism.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe noted that China has made remarkable achievements in development and risen to become the world's second-largest economy. He added that the Japanese side is ready to join efforts with China to open up a new era for bilateral ties.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in said he is looking forward to China's continued contribution to peace and prosperity in northeastern Asia and the wider world under Xi's leadership, adding that he hopes to work with his Chinese counterpart in making the South Korea-China strategic cooperative partnership sturdier and more mature.

Singapore's President Halimah Yacob said that China has undergone a phenomenal transformation over the last 70 years, overcoming many challenges and achieving rapid economic growth to lift the livelihoods of its people. He added that China's growth and development will benefit not only its own people but also the region and the world.

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi said Egypt and China, two ancient civilizations, have made important contributions to the ideological and cultural development of humanity. He said he wishes China a more peaceful, secure and splendid future.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also hailed the achievements China has made in the past 70 years, saying that under the leadership of Xi, China is committed to promoting peace and stability at both regional and global levels, and is playing an increasingly important role.

Australian Governor-General David Hurley said that China can be proud of its remarkable development achievements since 1949. Australia is committed to continuing its close cooperation with China within the framework of their comprehensive strategic partnership.

Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen said that no other country has achieved such successful development in such a short time as China has. China now has the most modern infrastructure in the world, and its industries and technology are also among the most advanced, he said, adding that none of those achievements would be possible without the tremendous efforts of the Chinese people.

Other leaders sending congratulatory messages to Xi include Cambodia's King Norodom Sihamoni, Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Guinea's President Alpha Conde, Zimbabwe's President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Sierra Leon's President Julius Maada Bio, Bulgaria's President Rumen Radev, Greece's President Prokopis Pavlopoulos, Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro, Jamaica's Governor-General Patrick Allen and Panama's President Laurentino Cortizo.
