World: Green towers grace Milan skyline

Called "the most exciting new tower in the world", Milan's Bosco Verticale, or "vertical forest", which opened in 2014, comprises two landscaped towers with 113 apartments that offer expansive views of the city. The project was proposed by architect Stefano Boeri as part of his BioMilano-six ideas for a biodiverse metropolis. His company describes the towers as "a model for a sustainable residential building, a project for metropolitan reforestation that contributes to the regeneration of the environment and urban biodiversity". The design is characterized by its integrated vegetation, including more than 1,000 different species of trees, shrubs and plants. In total, there are 780 planted trees.

Morrisons supermarket in the United Kingdom has announced that it's ready to launch a "Vegan No Pork" pie. The pie will mimic a traditional pork pie through its meaty taste, crumbly pastry texture and classic appearance. The recipe is being kept secret until the product hits stores on Dec 9, ahead of Christmas. Only six of the company's food experts know the recipe for the plant-based pie.

A 9-year-old prodigy from Belgium is more than a decade ahead of his peers and set to graduate from college next month. Laurent Simons, who is studying electrical engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, will finish his degree by December. The genius will go for his PhD in electrical engineering, while also working on a degree in medicine. While Simons is able to learn faster than most, his parents are being careful to let him enjoy himself. Unlike most 9-year-olds, he has already worked out what he wants to do with his life: develop artificial organs.
