    Glass Animals Live in Beijing

    Glass Animals are a British indie rock band formed in 2012. They rose to stardom with their second album, How to Be a Human Being, in 2016. The album peaked at No 20 in the United States and 23 in the United Kingdom.

    She Her Her Hers China Tour 2019

    When: Nov 29, 8:30 pm

    Where: Mao Livehouse Beijing

    Vocalist Takahashi Hiroyasu, guitarist Sakamoto Natsuki and bassist Tomason formed She Her Her Hers in August 2011.

    Their romantic voice and transporting melodies have led them to become a new star in Japan's indie rock scene.

    Stephen Kovacevich Piano Recital

    When: Dec 4, 7:30 pm

    Where: Tianjin Grand Theater

    Stephen Kovacevich is one of the most revered musicians of his generation. He has won admiration for his interpretation of Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart and Schubert. A Grammy nominated artist, Kovacevich has a long list of recordings for Philips and EMI.

    Born in Los Angeles, Kovacevich laid the foundation for his career as concert pianist at the age of 11. After moving to England to study with Dame Myra Hess, he made his European debut at Wigmore Hall in 1961. Since then he has appeared with many of the world's finest orchestras and conductors, including Hans Graf, Bernard Haitink, Kurt Masur, Simon Rattle, Georg Solti and Yannick Nezet-Seguin.

    Urna Chahar-Tugehi

    Where: The Forbidden City Concert Hall

    Singer Urna Chahar-Tugehi was born into a family of herders in the grassland of the Ordos Plateau in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, a society where song was a ubiquitous part of everyday life. Her first musical training was learning to play the yangqin-Chinese dulcimer (a type of zither)-from a Shanghai Conservatory of Music professor who was visiting Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia.

    At the age of 18, she began studying at the Shanghai Conservatory, a challenging step since she had no knowledge of Mandarin.

    In 2003, she was awarded the RUTH prize in Germany for Best International Artist.

    Sarah McKenzie

    When: Dec 14-15, 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm

    Where: Blue Note Beijing

    Sarah McKenzie hails from Melbourne, Australia; she earned a bachelor's degree in jazz at Perth's West Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

    McKenzie has performed at jazz's iconic places, the festivals in Monterey, Juan-les-Pins, Marciac and Perugia, Dizzy's and Minton's in New York. Together with the Boston Pops Orchestra, she premiered one of her compositions at Boston?0?7s Symphony Hall. Her version of We Could Be Lovers won an award in Australia.

    Into the White Night

    When: Dec 14, 2 pm and 7:30 pm; Dec 15, 7:30 pm

    Where: Shenzhen Poly Theater

    Based on the mystery novel Byakuyako by Japanese author Keigo Higashino, musical Into the White Night is about an unsolved death, which puzzles a police detective. The dead man's family and circle of friends may provide answers for the detective who continues to investigate.

    Han Xue stars as the lead female character in the musical.

    Carmen

    When: Dec 24, 7:30 pm

    Where: Mei Lanfang Theater, Beijing

    Established in 1985, the Spanish Ballet of Murcia has performed in countless theaters and taken part in arts festivals the world over. The company has always had its own identity and engages in various forms of Spanish dance, including Flamenco.

    Its dance adaptation of the classic opera Carmen has won awards for choreography, stage effects and the skill of its dancers.

    Carmen, written in 1847 by French composer Georges Bizet, is one of the most-performed operas in the world.

    Japanese New Media Artist Ryoichi Kurokawa China Tour

    When: Dec 28, 8 pm

    Where: Tango Live Beijing

    Japanese artist Ryoichi Kurokawa uses various media-video, installation, recording and live performances-in order to produce exceptional audiovisual sound pieces, which he has been pioneering and presenting internationally since 1999. He describes his works as time-based sculptures and considers sound and image as a single unit.

    His works are a composition of symphonies, both imagined and produced as well as recorded. This, with the combination of video material and computer-generated aesthetics, changes how the spectator views the familiar.

    A Passage to Bollywood

    When: Dec 30, 7:30 pm

    Where: Wuxi Grand Theater

    A Passage to Bollywood is a stage musical with foot-tapping music, colorful costumes and a gripping plot.

    Covering various aspects of the Indian Bollywood culture, Ashley Lobo's smash hit performance comprises old classics as well as the latest Bollywood songs.
