President Xi's stories with Macao

Ten years ago, Xi, then vice-president, made his first visit to Macao as a State leader on Jan 10. He said he was confident of Macao's ability to overcome the financial crisis.

Macao is being affected by global financial woes and people's livelihoods have experienced temporary difficulties, but the measures introduced by the Macao SAR government in response to the challenges are efficient and beneficial to the region, Xi said.

Xi also said the central government will develop Hengqin, an island next to Macao, to diversify Macao's development.
