3 new COVID-19 cases reported; 2 imported, 1 local


The Chinese mainland reported three new infections of the novel coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections to 82,830, the National Health Commission released on Monday.
Of the new infections, two were detected from inbound arrivals and the other one was a locally transmitted case in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province.
According to the commission, 80 people were discharged from the hospital after recovering on the same day while the number of patients in severe condition increased by just one.
To date, the death toll on the Chinese mainland stood at 4,633. No new deaths were reported on Sunday.
In the past 24 hours, the commission reported five new suspected cases. Four were imported cases while the other one was a locally transmitted case in Beijing.
It also revealed that 730,529 close contacts had been traced as of Sunday midnight. In addition, 508 were discharged from medical observation on the same day.
Meanwhile, another 8,443 close contacts are still under medical observation.
As of Sunday, the Chinese mainland reported 25 new asymptomatic cases, along with 51 discharged from medical observation.
So far, a total of 974 asymptomatic patients infected with the virus are still under medical observation, 131 of whom were detected from inbound arrivals, said the commission.
By Sunday, there were 1,037 confirmed cases including four deaths in Hong Kong, 45 confirmed cases in Macao, and 429 in Taiwan including six deaths.
In Hubei, the region hit hardest by the epidemic on the Chinese mainland, the total confirmed cases remained at 68,128 by Sunday. The province reported 12 new recovered cases, but had no new confirmed or suspected cases nor deaths on the same day.
