Shopping to help alleviate poverty
A special poverty alleviation event that is part of Shanghai's May 5 Shopping Festival was launched on Thursday.
The first 55 vendors of the event were unveiled on Thursday. These vendors will be selling agricultural products from Yunnan province, Zunyi of Guizhou province, Kashgar of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Shigatse of Tibet autonomous region and Guoluo Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Qinghai province.
Apart from selling products in physical stores and on e-commerce platforms, the local governments from the five areas will also hold livestreaming shows to promote their agricultural products to Shanghai consumers.
Wholesale markets, supermarkets, grocery e-commerce platforms and restaurants will also take part in this special poverty alleviation activity.
