China has returned to normal and people are living in a "post-COVID new normal" since the outbreak of the pandemic, which is unbelievable, CBS News reported on Saturday.

It is hard to believe the fact people in China are able to do morning tai-chi at Beijing's Ritan Park, to rush to work and have lunch in the central business district, to come home at sunset after work, since the streets were almost empty because almost everyone was staying at home for two months to keep each other safe from the coronavirus.

Everyone was doing what they could to help when the pandemic occurred earlier this year: Ordinary people were staying at home all day; new hospitals were built in less than two weeks; testing and contact tracing descended on new outbreaks with speed; and now a 14-day quarantine at a designated hotel is needed when entering China.

Roark Jones, from Georgia, is a sophomore at New York University's campus in Shanghai. "In February, I was basically in my dorm the entire time," he said. "And then by April, things were pretty open. Now, the pandemic's basically nonexistent here."

It's the same situation for businesses in China: they are back and bustling. Joyce Du, who is the general manager of China's first Shake Shack, said that they are working every day without closing the store.

As life goes on, the show does, too, in Hangzhou. Cirque du Soleil's only show is in operation, out of 44 in the world. Half of the artists are Chinese.

"We've been very fortunate. I would say China really is one of the safest places right now to be in, in terms of the world, in terms of the COVID situation," Yvonne Yuen, the show's technical director said.
