FAW Group sells 1m vehicles in first quarter
Leading Chinese automaker FAW Group Co Ltd sold over 1 million vehicles in the first quarter of this year, a 74.3 percent year-on-year surge, according to the company. Its sedan brand Hongqi sold 70,060 units in the period, up 180.2 percent from the same period last year, while 191,060 trucks of the Jiefang brand were sold, up 76.8 percent. Meanwhile, the group's joint ventures FAW-Volkswagen and FAW Toyota reported sales growth of 72.4 percent and 76.6 percent to 550,869 units and 217,102 units, respectively.
Carmaker Nio rolls out 100,000th smart EV
Chinese electric car maker Nio's 100,000th vehicle rolled off the production line on Wednesday in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province. It took Nio 1,046 days to complete the production of 100,000 smart electric vehicles, with an average price of 428,000 yuan ($65,300), according to the company. Nio has invested over 14 billion yuan in research and development and will inject another 5 billion yuan in R&D this year, according to the company.
