'Snail apartments' race ahead in green technology

Designed by the Yungang Grottoes Academy, the "snail apartment" is located at Dongshan Mountain near the globally renowned cultural heritage site of Yungang Grottoes in Shanxi province. These apartments are green buildings made from used cement pipes and steel. Adopting a solar power system, they not only ensure self-sufficiency in power, but also supply power for the tourist attractions.
