Railway bridge work progresses in Anhui
Construction of a 289.8-kilometer-long high-speed railway linking East China's Anhui and Jiangxi provinces got a new boost on Tuesday when a reinforced concrete main span on a super-large railway bridge was completed in Anhui. The 221.5-meter-long continuous span of the bridge, which traverses the Beijing-Taipei Expressway, was built by China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group and is part of the Nanchang-Jingdezhen-Huangshan High-speed Railway. Work on the railway commenced on Dec 25,2018 and is scheduled to be completed by September 2023. The railway will have 10 stops and a travel speed of some 350 kilometers per hour. It is expected to help promote local tourism and economic growth.
Freight train service to Budapest starts
A new China-Europe freight-train route linking the city of Jinhua in East China's Zhejiang province with Budapest, Hungary was launched on Monday. The freight-train service was launched ahead of the Second China-CEEC Expo&International Consumer Goods Fair in Ningbo, Zhejiang, from Tuesday to Friday. The train carries about 21 million yuan ($3.3 million) worth of goods, including auto parts, electronic instruments and household items. It is expected to arrive in the Hungarian capital in 18 days.
Passenger car sales increase in May
Sales of passenger cars in China last month rose from a year earlier amid stable recovery of the domestic economy, an industry association said on Tuesday. Retail sales of passenger vehicles, including sedans, sport-utility vehicles, and multipurpose vehicles, increased 1 percent year-on-year to over 1.62 million units in May, data from the China Passenger Car Association show. The sales gained 1 percent in May from April, the association said.
