China cuts prices of retail fuels
China lowered the retail prices of gasoline and diesel on Tuesday. Based on recent changes in international oil prices, the retail prices of gasoline and diesel will be lowered by 100 yuan ($15.44) and 95 yuan per ton, respectively, according to the National Development and Reform Commission, the country's top economic regulator. The adjustment is the first cut in nearly four months.
CDB's 2020 loans help in COVID control
The China Development Bank issued loans totaling 2.85 trillion yuan ($440.46 billion) last year to facilitate COVID-19 control and economic growth. The policy bank extended 31.5 billion yuan toward emergency use for epidemic prevention and control, as well as funds worth 468.1 billion yuan to projects related to infrastructure, the manufacturing sector, and people's livelihood, the bank said in its annual report. Other funds flowed into sectors like poverty alleviation and green development, the bank said.
