China's road logistics price index up in June

BEIJING -- China's road logistics price index went up 2.6 percent in June from a year ago as the country's economy further recovered and market demand rebounded, industry data showed.

The index came in at 102.7 last month, edging up 0.1 percent on a monthly basis, according to a survey jointly conducted by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and the Guangdong Lin'an Logistics Group.

The sub-index for full truckload logistics price, which mainly measures bulk commodity and regional transportation, stood at 102.8 in the period, rising 1.4 percent from May and up 2.22 percent year-on-year.

The survey attributed the price index rise to improvements in demand and supply, supported by the economic recovery, the implementation of policies to promote consumption and stabilize growth, and the continuous smooth road transport.

It also noted the insufficient recovery momentum of smaller logistics companies.

China's road logistics price index is based on the average price in the last week of December 2012, with the monthly index starting point at 100.
