A decade through the lens: Youth embraces closer mainland, HK ties

Editor's note: To mark the convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, China Daily has selected 10 sets of photo stories that illustrate various aspects of the country's development during the past decade. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland. With the full support of the motherland, Hong Kong's economy has flourished, and the city has gained a stable position as an international financial, shipping and trade center, with its innovative science and technology industry rising rapidly.

A series of major national strategies, policies and measures have been introduced successively in Hong Kong and Macao over the past decade. Hong Kong and Macao have been involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, enjoying many opportunities and development possibilities.

A China Daily reporter has taken a series of photos of young people from Hong Kong, telling their stories and pursuing their dreams. These young people are mostly representative of the generation that has grown up since Hong Kong returned to the motherland.

Nowadays, more and more young people in Hong Kong are participating in the overall development of the country through their own efforts. Like bauhinia flowers, they have blossomed and grown together with Hong Kong.

While realizing their self-worth, they have contributed to the development of the city and the country as a whole.
