Indonesian and Thai editions of the video series Classics Quoted by Xi Jinping were launched in Beijing on Monday when President Xi Jinping embarked on his trip to Indonesia and then Thailand.

The six-episode video series is coproduced by China Media Group, Indonesia's state-owned media TVRI and Thailand's Nation TV.

It features quotes from ancient Chinese stories and classics used by Xi in his speeches and articles. It will be aired in November through TVRI and Nation TV.

Each episode is about 40 minutes long and talks about topics that demonstrate Xi's understanding of traditional Chinese culture and his thoughts on the country's governance, such as people-centered philosophy, clean governance, self-cultivation and Chinese people's good virtues, like filial piety.

Since its release in 2018, the video series has been translated into languages including English, Spanish, Russian, Italian and Japanese.

Shen Haixiong, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and head of China Media Group, said that he expects audiences in Indonesia and Thailand can better understand China's past and future through the video series.

"Media is a bridge to link people from different nations to know each other. China Media Group would like to deepen cooperation with other media outlets for a shared future," said Shen.

Phinij Jarusombat, a former Thai deputy prime minister and president of Thai-Chinese Cultural and Relationship Council, said that media exchanges between China and Thailand have contributed much to enhancing cultural communications and offering a glimpse into the possibilities for ordinary Chinese working to realize their dreams.

Besides the series, the documentary China on a New Journey, produced by China Media Group, will be broadcast in many Asian media outlets, including India, Turkiye, Cambodia, Laos, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The documentary has been translated into various languages. Through real stories, it reveals the unique Chinese path to modernization and unveils the secrets of China's vigorous development.

The launching ceremony was held in Beijing on Monday and heads of Asian media outlets attended the ceremony online.
