    Must-visit attractions in Yangzhou

Yangzhou, nestled along the Grand Canal, harbors a treasure trove of historical wonders and cultural gems. Here are some of the city's must-see scenic spots.

    Xichun Pavilion

Located on the west bank of Slender West Lake is the magnificent Xichun Pavilion, which was reconstructed in 1986 and reopened in 1990.

Legend has it that during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), wealthy salt merchants frittered away gold by the thousands to establish this grand piece of ancient architecture in celebration of the birthdays of imperial emperors.

The pavilion is believed to be the best viewing place for the Slender West Lake. Its second floor offers visitors a sweeping vista of the graceful Five Pavilion Bridge and the serene lake, accompanied by the elegant tunes of traditional Chinese musical instruments.

    Diaoyu (Fishing) Pavilion

On the east shore of the Slender West Lake stands the splendid Fishing Pavilion, which features an exquisite structure with three sides facing water and connected to Xiaojin Hill by nothing but a long causeway.

The pavilion offers a view of the Five Pavilion Bridge spanning the lake from the circular doorway on the west side, with the majestic White Pagoda visible from another circular doorway on the south side.

    Qionghua Taoist Temple

The Qionghua Taoist Temple, named after the Chinese snowball viburnum, is one of the most renowned tourist destinations in Yangzhou and offers a peaceful sanctuary to admire the golden ginkgo leaves during autumn and winter.

The temple was originally built during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 24) and underwent several renovations during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
