Chongqing students complete massive woodblock New Year painting

On Friday, over a thousand students from the Chongqing Liangping Vocational Education Center completed a massive Liangping woodblock New Year painting spanning approximately 1,000 square meters in Liangping district of Chongqing.
The students completed the painting, titled Generals as Door Gods, under the guidance of Xu Jiahui, a national inheritor of the art form.
The Liangping woodblock New Year painting art form was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage items early in May 2006.
Liangping holds five national-level intangible cultural heritage items. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has recognized the region for its unique customs during Spring Festival and its Chinese folk culture and art heritage.
In recent years, the district has established five primary and secondary schools focused on preserving traditional Chinese culture and art. They have also developed 13 city-level experimental bases for inheriting intangible cultural heritage, and introduced more than 120 interest classes for over 10,000 students.
