State Grid conducted a real-life emergency power supply drill on May 25, in preparation for the college entrance examination at Shaoxing No 1 High School in Zhejiang province over the weekend. By simulating a real power outage to test the response speed and handling capability of various parties after a fault occurs, the company ensured a stable and reliable power supply for exam centers during the upcoming examination.

According to Xie Tengyue, the director of the marketing department of Yuecheng Power Supply Branch of State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company and the overall commander of the drill, in order to avoid disrupting normal school activities, the drill was scheduled for the weekend after all students had left, aiming to assess the response capabilities of personnel and equipment in real blackout situations.

This power outage drill focused closely on the electricity supply needs for the college entrance examination, simulating three typical power failure scenarios: external power outage, internal transformer failure and end load power failure within the school premises. With close coordination between the high-voltage customer managers, school teachers and electricians, the drill proceeded smoothly and all tasks were completed. The exercise tested the function of automatic switching equipment and backup power systems, ensuring that critical loads like the broadcast listening UPS were not affected during power outages or switching processes. It evaluated the emergency response mechanisms and operational capabilities of the power supply company, which has effectively assessed the scientific and operational aspects of the college entrance examination power supply contingency plan, and enhanced the practical skills of power supply personnel.

The drill accurately identified weak points in the school's power supply work, such as insufficient on-duty electricians, safety equipment in the distribution room exceeding the test period, a lack of emergency lighting in high distribution rooms, and aging insulation in low-voltage cabinets. In response to these issues, State Grid Shaoxing Power Supply Company communicated extensively with the school during the drill summary meeting, providing specific improvement suggestions and measures. The school expressed a strong commitment to addressing these issues promptly.

We will immediately address the issues identified during the drill to ensure flawless power supply during the college entrance examination and create the best possible testing environment for students," said Yu Qihong, vice-principal of Shaoxing No1 High School.

This drill not only served as a comprehensive assessment of the emergency capabilities of the high-voltage customer manager team at State Grid, but also conducted a thorough examination of the school's power system. To this end, the company has established a customized power supply plan and will focus on tracking and closing the loop on improvements in the next phase, while also conducting special inspections at various exam centers and schools. During the college entrance examination, the company will assign dedicated personnel to monitor exam centers, ensuring real-time monitoring of power supply conditions and enabling swift responses and timely resolutions to any issues, in a bid to create a stable testing environment for students.
