The 2025 edition of the "Happy Run: International Youth & Family Sports Carnival" was successfully held on Sunday at Beijing Sport University, bringing together nearly 450 participants from over 20 countries and regions for a day of sports, cultural exchange and family fun.

Guided by the Youth Department of the General Administration of Sport of China, the event was co-hosted by the International Sports Exchange Center of the General Administration of Sport and the Beijing Diplomatic Service Bureau, and organized by Beijing Sport University.

The Carnival welcomed families of foreign diplomats stationed in China, expatriate employees from multinational companies, and local youth and their families from Beijing. The event aimed to foster international friendship and cultural exchange through the universal language of sports.

At the opening ceremony, Wei Daishun, director of the International Sports Exchange Center, emphasized the role of sport as a bridge between cultures. "Sport transcends borders, connects young people of different languages and backgrounds, and fosters unity and understanding," he said.

"We hope this event provides young participants with opportunities to challenge themselves on the field and build friendships off the field through shared experiences and joyful interaction."

A youth football friendship match was a highlight of the day, featuring U13 and U15 five-a-side games. Both Chinese and international players showcased their skills and teamwork, promoting mutual understanding through spirited competition.

Blending physical activity with cultural education, this year’s carnival adopted a "Sports + Traditional Culture" model. Participants enjoyed a variety of themed activities, including dry-land dragon boat racing, target basketball shooting, dart adventure, and martial arts practice.

A cultural market segment added further depth to the event. Olympic champion Wang Liping joined participants in a calligraphy workshop, offering a hands-on introduction to Chinese brushwork and traditional aesthetics.

Attendees also took part in kite making, facial mask painting and many other traditional crafts. The festive atmosphere and shared cultural experiences enriched mutual appreciation and friendship among participants from diverse backgrounds.
