Kazakhstani student embraces Chinese culture in Xi'an

Meruyert Kalimzhanova, a lively and talented Kazakhstani student, recently shared her story of connection with China at Xi'an Jiaotong University.

Having now earned a master's degree in Business Administration, she has woven a tale of growth transcending national borders in the ancient city of Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province.

Kalimzhanova's journey with China began during her teenage years when a trip left her captivated by the country's energy and profound cultural heritage. This initial impression sowed the seed for her decision to study in the country.

While pursuing an undergraduate degree at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, she gained a deeper understanding of China's thriving economy and decided to pursue further studies at Xi'an Jiaotong University.

The time in Xi'an exposed her to the collision and fusion of Eastern and Western education. She appreciated the guidance of her teachers, especially their valuable advice on applying Chinese management knowledge to Kazakhstani enterprises.

The university's resources, such as the cross-cultural exchange activities organized by the International Education College of XJTU, deepened her understanding of economic cooperation between China and Central Asian countries.

Overcoming the initial language barrier, Kalimzhanova now fluently communicates in Chinese and has developed a passion for classical Chinese dance, often dancing with her Chinese friends, who explain the cultural significance of each move. In exchange, she has showcased traditional Kazakhstani attire to her fellow students.

Expressing the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative, Kalimzhanova emphasized the vitality of economic cooperation between China and Central Asian countries.

Looking ahead, she plans to return to Kazakhstan to accumulate work experience and pursue a career in dance education using her Chinese management knowledge. She envisions becoming an envoy of Sino-Kazakhstan friendship and showcasing the beauty of cultural fusion to a wider audience.
