Senior Chinese diplomat slams US defense secretary's hegemonic rhetoric

At the World Peace Forum in Beijing on Thursday, senior Chinese diplomat Liu Jianchao criticized US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's remarks at this year's Shangri-La Dialogue. Liu said the rhetoric of "achieving peace through strength" is merely a new expression of hegemonic thinking. "It provokes confrontation and conflict, rather than promoting peace and harmony," Liu said.
