Zhengzhou metro suspends stations amid heavy rain

Parts of the metro in Zhengzhou, Central China's Henan province, were suspended Friday as heavy rain was expected to persist over the following two days.
The Zhengzhou Meteorological Bureau said in an 11 am Friday forecast that moderate to heavy rain is expected from Friday afternoon into the night, with intense downpours possible on Saturday. In response, the bureau issued the lowest-level heavy-rain warning.
Zhengzhou Metro said Friday morning that several stations had been taken out of service, while other busy stations continued to operate normally.
As of 7:50 am, local media reported that authorities were still clearing and pumping water from multiple culverts and tunnels, which remained closed to traffic.
Heavy showers are expected to continue through Saturday in parts of the northeastern and central regions of the province, with some areas expected to receive 100 to 150 millimeters of rain.
