The skill of the artist Zhang Daqian (1899-1993) is evident in the variety of styles and motifs that he mastered in classic Chinese painting, whether it was a majestic landscape laced with brilliant hues of green, blue and rosy pink, or an elegant still life of flowers and birds.
Paintings from Zhang's decades-long career as one of the most internationally renowned Chinese artists are to now go under the hammer at Bonhams auctioneers' upcoming sale in Hong Kong in late October.
The auction will feature Zhang's creations on folded paper fans, coupled with self-composed poems, as well as a group of four horizontal screen paintings depicting floral blossoms representing the four seasons.
