Tucked in an old hutong, or alleyway, not far from the Forbidden City is a compound that used to serve as the dormitory area of Peking University. Now, it has been transformed into a cultural and creative hub adding to Beijing's metropolitan vibe.
Among the institutions and venues at this newly unveiled hub, Shouyuan is a creative center of the National Art Museum of China, which itself is located in Wusi Dajie just dozens of meters away.
On the first floor, the two-story center offers a variety of art products inspired by the artworks in the National Art Museum's collection. The second floor hosts an art space that exhibits a collection of sketches and preparatory paintings by modern artists.
