Domestic auto sheet holds larger market share

Domestic automotive sheets account for 70 percent of the Chinese market, and cold-rolled steel sheets for sedans, which depended mostly on imports, now mainly come from domestic suppliers.

BaosteelCo Ltd, China's largest steel producer, holds a half of the domestic auto sheet market, and the other large domestic steel makers including Angang Steel Co and Wuhan Iron & Steel Co Ltd have a combined market share of more than ten percent.

Baosteel provided simulation tests and auto mould samples for 70 percent of domestic medium- and high-grade sedans introduced in 2005.BeijingBenz-Daimler Chrysler Auto Co preferred Baosteel's high strength galvanized sheet for the Chrysler 300C sedan.
