China's WISCO eyes North American resources

Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Corp (WISCO), China's third largest steel and iron maker, opened its first office in Canada on Dec 14, aimed at developing resources in North America.

The office will focus on the utilization and trading of natural resources, including coal and iron ore, the company said in a press release on its website on Dec 17.

The office in Canada is the company's second in North America after it established a subsidiary in the US last year. In recent years WISCO has set up eight branches and two offices abroad.
