Police had stumbled on a note in the slain policeman, Tsui Po-ko's home , but it was not clear who had written it, the Coroner's Court was told yesterday.

The police had seized a number of documents from Tsui's home in Tung Chung which included 27 videotapes, shoes and medal souvenir for his visit to Yinchuan International Motorcycle Tourism Festival in 2000.

On the note found near Tsui's bed was written: "What should I do when I am alive?"

The note also said: "Peaceful and being at ease will lead to stagnation. Only conflict, confrontation and war will lead to new beginning. God was created in ancient time when people were ignorant. People could not explain thunder, volcano and typhoon, and attributed them to God."

It was also written on the note that "Sorcerers, monks, and popes represent God to speak, and ruling class is formed. The ruling class cannot tolerate people's doubt to God, and they lower the legitimacy and recognition of people. What is the meaning of life?"

A video, composed of footages from the 27 seized videotapes, showed that a man looked like Tsui in a red polo shirt and a pair of Mizuno sneakers was playing with a little girl in Tung Chung.

It had not been confirmed whether the man was Tsui, and whether he was the suspect.

Another video clip, taken three days after the death of Leung, showed the man playing basketball. Police officer Ho Shuk-yee said this clip was used to examine the running posture of that man, and it was compared with the Hang Seng Bank robber.

The video also included a clip showing the man in black ski mask driving and skiing in Canada. Ho said this clip was used to compare the facial feature of the bank robber, also in black hood.

The clip taken on December 31, 1999 showed the man, with close-cropped hair, feeling the abdomen of a pregnant woman.

The court was told that the Mizuno sports shoes worn by the man in the video and the robber's shoes had the same design and both were 30cm long.

Sergeant Fung Pui-ming testified that Tsui had gone to Yinchuan in Ningxia province in 2000.

He said Tsui had been interviewed by a Yinchuan newspaper, Xin Xiao Xi Bao, on June 23, 2000. It was said Tsui had cycled from Beijing to Yinchuan with a mainlander. The two men had also swam in the Yellow River.

Fung said the two men had participated in Yinchuan International Motorcycle Tourism Festival and were received by the festival organizer Chen Feng. Tsui had also given his phone number and Hong Kong address to Chen.

Fung said Chen, who would give testimony today, could still recognize Tsui when he was shown pictures by the police last year. Chen had given each of the two men a souvenir medal and a red polo shirt, with the festival's white triangle motorcycle logo on the left side, and both the festival's Chinese name and logo marked on the back.

A Hang Seng Bank surveillance video showed that the robber had also worn a red polo shirt inside out.

Forensic scientist Wong Tai-wai testified that a white triangle mark was found on the robber's right chest.

He said similar mark was found in the red polo shirt worn by the man in the seized video.

A model illustrating the scene of the Tsim Sha Tsui shoot-out will be displayed today. Families of related constable may be called to give testimony in today's hearing.
