Runaway monkeys seen monkeying around in wild

Two monkeys that escaped from Xinjiang Tianshan zoo in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region were seen enjoying themselves in the wild on Sunday in Nanshan mountain in Urumqi.

Li Zhaojiang, director of the wild animal protection office in the city, said he and his workers were pleased to hear the two monkeys were spotted because animal protection workers have been looking for the animals for six months.

Li said that wild animals such as red deer, wild boars, squirrels and rabbits live in the Nanshan mountain area, but not monkeys.
