19-year-old jailed for stealing corpses

Updated: 2009-08-04 09:16 A court in Chongzhou, Sichuan province, sentenced a 19-year-old boy to 18 months in prison last Tuesday for stealing eight corpses from graves and blackmailing the bereaved families. Huang, a junior high school dropout, first stole a corpse, along with the casket, in December last year, hours after the funeral ceremony. He left a note on the grave demanding money in return for the corpse. By April this year, Huang had stolen eight corpses before he was arrested. (Chengdu Daily) |
