    Wen leaves Vietnam for home after ASEAN summits

    HANOI - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao left Hanoi for home on Saturday afternoon after attending a series of summits between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and its partners.

    During his three-day stay, Wen attended the 13th summit between ASEAN and China (10+1), the 13th summit between ASEAN and China, Japan and the South Korea ?(10+3), the 5th East Asia summit, and meetings with leaders of Japan and South Korea.

    Wen also met with his counterparts from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, India, Singapore and Australia, on the sidelines of the summits held in the capital city of Vietnam.

    At the 10+1 summit, leaders of both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening their strategic partnership and comprehensive cooperation, and agreed to adopt the new Plan of Action for the period of 2011-2015. Wen offered a six-point proposal to further enhance the strategic partnership between China and ASEAN.

    At the 10+3 summit, all parties involved vowed to promote the East Asian integration, and realize common prosperity. Wen called for a steady resolution to promote the East Asian cooperation and made a four-point proposal to push forward the process.

    At the meeting between China, Japan and South Korea, the leaders discussed issues of common concerns, including the Northeast Asia situation and the upcoming G20 summit. Wen urged the three countries to maintain dialogues, enhance mutual trust and properly handle disputes, so as to promote their cooperation.

    At the fifth East Asia summit, Wen stressed the importance of abiding by existing principles and further enhancing communication and cooperation. He also welcomed Russia and the United States to join in the summit, and urged the two countries to play a constructive role.
