Kilometer-long line queues for Great Wall bus

Being unaware of the train from Beijing North Railway Station to the Badaling section of the Great Wall, thousands of tourists waited in a kilometer-long line at Deshengmen, Beijing, on Thursday morning, morningpost.com.cn reported.

Most of those at the Deshengmen bus stop were waiting for the No 877 shuttle to Badaling, the most popular section of the Great Wall. Seeing the huge numbers of people, unlicensed taxi drivers began trying to attract business. However, compared with bus fare of 12 yuan ($1.92) per person, the 75 yuan per-person prices weren't getting many takers.

According to on-site staff, 7,000-8,000 tourists go to the Great Wall by the 877 bus every day. Meanwhile, the S2 line from Beijing North Railway Station is far less busy.

Ten trains a day usually carry nearly 1,000 passengers every day, most of whom had found out about the train online or had called the railway station.

One of those waiting for the bus said had he known about the train, he would definitely have chosen it over taking the shuttle bus.
