The Hengduan Mountains, located in Southwest China, offer some of the most magnificent scenery in the country. The main peak is called Mount Gongga. On the west slope of the mountain, at an attitude of about 4,000 meters, there is a large calcification pool group, locally called Quanhuatan.
Que'er Mountain is located in Southwest China and the northernmost part of the Hengduan Mountains. It is also one of the few snow mountains named after birds in China. Local people once called it "the mountain over which the eagle cannot fly".
In ancient times, Zhenjiang city in East China's Jiangsu province was called Jingkou. Located at the golden cross of the Yangtze River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, it is a place of strategic importance. The upper reaches of the Yangtze River deposit a lot of silt here, which has gradually built up into a small island in the river. Jingpo Lake, the largest alpine lava barrier lake in China, is as famous as Lake Geneva in Switzerland. It is located in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province. Although the winter temperature here is lower than -20 C, the temperature at the bottom of the water is kept above 10 C all year round.
The Singing Sands Mountain is located in Dunhuang in western China. Nestled between the tall sand dunes is a little miracle -- a spring which looks like a crescent moon.
