"I see the market in China is really growing, everyone knows that the market's audiences demand more contents," John Dietz, Hollywood visual effects supervisor, told Xinhuanet in an exclusive interview.

"For me, this market needs more people trying to deliver good quality movies that audiences will have for the rest of their lives," he added.

John Dietz, who participated in the production of Hollywood blockbusters, like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Hunger Games and Chinese movies like Gone With The Bullets, League of Gods, has lately set up an independent studio in Beijing.

"So I see a really big opportunity here to impact the market and make stuffs that are memorable," he said.

He continued that though the Chinese audiences see the science fiction from the West, they want movies highlighting Chinese content and topics.

"Science fiction is kind of very American thing, it has been developed over long time and become almost second nature in the film makers and the audiences, expectations have been built," he said. But in China, movie makers have done a good job as their science fictions are very original, he added.

Given the achievement, the Chinese science fiction movie makers still face challenges.

"They should see the sci-fi and get the feeling, and certain thing like realism in a story," he held.

"The film makers here need to develop themselves. That's hard part," said John Dietz. "When you have the idea to try to do something different, it's a chance for innovation," he said.

"But the opportunities to do something special I feel are bigger," he said, keeping his China company in mind.
