Time for China's interbank trading extended
    ( 2003-07-02 09:59) (Xinhua)

Beginning July 1, the trading time for China's interbank money market is extended from the previous four and a half hours to six hours, according to the Shanghai- based National Interbank Funding Center.

This second extension since January 2000 of the trading time for the interbank businesses in the country is the result of a survey of 120 brisk interbank traders. The survey found there was urgent demand for longer trading time.

According the new timetable, morning trade opens at 9:00 a.m. each trading day and closes at 11:00 a.m., an hour later than before. The afternoon session starts half an hour earlier at 1:30 p.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m.
