    Harry Potter author wins award

    Harry Potter author JK Rowling has scooped up a top Spanish award for promoting international harmony by stimulating children's creativity through her books.

    The British author beat 37 other nominees to win the Prince of Asturias Award for Concord, given each year to a person or group whose work has contributed "to the struggle against injustice, poverty, disease or ignorance, to the defense of freedom, to opening new horizons of knowledge."

    The five Harry Potter books have sold almost 200 million copies in 55 languages and 200 countries.
