Nine victims of Japan's chemical weapons leave hospital
    ( 2003-09-15 17:02) (Xinhua)

Nine more Chinese victims of Japanese chemical weapons were discharged from the No. 203 Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Qiqihar City of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province on Monday.

The nine included six males and three females, aged from 11 to 55. All were affected by mustard gas abandoned by Japanese troops during the Japanese aggression against China (1937-1945).

The weapons, discovered on Aug. 4 at a construction site in Qiqihar, were stored in five metal barrels, one of which was accidentally broken, releasing an oil-like substance into the soil.

A total of 43 people were hospitalized after coming into contact with the poisonous gas.

On Monday, there were still 24 mustard gas victims in the hospital. All were in a stable condition, a hospital source said.
