Landslide kills 12 in Shaanxi

All the bodies of 12 people trapped in a landslide were recovered yesterday
evening in Zizhou County of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
The tragedy happened at about 1 am on Tuesday when eight cave-houses of
farmer Liang Zhengde and his son were destroyed by about 12,000 cubic meters of
earth and rocks, burying eight family members and four relatives, said rescuers.
Preliminary investigation found that excessive digging in the hillsides by the
Liangs and heavy rainfall in the region since August were to blame for the
tragedy.
