    ( 2003-10-08 21:03) (Xinhua)

Irish President Mary McAleese arrived in Beijing on Wednesday on the second leg of her state visit to China.

Invited by Chinese President Hu Jintao, McAleese began her visit in Hong Kong on Monday.

The trip is McAleese's first visit to China since becoming president in 1997.

Chinese leaders will meet with McAleese during her stay in Beijing to discuss bilateral ties and issues of mutual concern.

A delegation, composed of about 190 government officials, entrepreneurs and journalists, is accompanying her.

McAleese is also scheduled to visit Shenyang, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
