Beijing to use less snow melting agent this winter
    ( 2003-10-27 15:46) (CRIENGLISH.com)

Beijing regrets using too much, and substandard, snow melting agent last winter, and will use less this winter.

Government insitutions admit that less than 20 percent of the snow melter used last winter met industry standards, which caused significant pollution.

Many patches of grass on the sides of the city's major roads died after polluted snow was spilled or splashed on them.

This winter, the city promises to use less chemical agent to help keep main roads free of snow.
