Soccer-China names initial squad for tournament
    ( 2003-11-03 22:32) (Xinhua)

China coach Arie Haan has named an initial roster for next month's East Asian Soccer Tournament in Japan, reports said on Monday.

Haan called up inexperienced Zhao Xuri, Feng Xiaoting, Liu Jindong and Li Jian to his 35-man squad, the Soccer News reported Monday.

Du Wei, Sun Xiang and Zhang Yaokun, all of the under-23 Chinese team, are also included in the list.

But the list is to be cut down to 20 before the national team leave for Japan in early December, said the newspaper.

Organizers of the East Asian Soccer Tournament required the participating teams to submit their rosters by Nov. 19.

The East Asian Soccer Tournament, which will run from December 4 to 10, features China, South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong of China.
