FM accuses Chen Shui-bian of sabotaging Sino-US relations
    ( 2003-11-07 11:18) (Xinhua)

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Thursday that Taiwan's Chen Shui-bian's recent stopovers in the United States were aimed at splitting China and sabotaging the improvement of Chinese-US relations.

"China has made serious representations to the United States on this issue for many times, and has expressed strong dissatisfaction to the US side for allowing Chen Shui-bian to make stopovers and spread messages of splitting China in the United States," Zhang said while making comments on Chen's stopovers at New York on his trip to Panama and Alaska back to Taiwan.

China has time and again urged the United States to observe its commitments with actual adherence to the one-China policy and the principles of the three communiques signed by the Chinese and US governments, and to oppose Taiwan independence, she said.
