A fire in a hospital in Huai'an City, east China's Jiangsu Province, left five people dead and two missing on Saturday.

About 70 people escaped the early morning blaze unhurt.

The fire took place in a surgical ward area in Huaiyin Hospital. The wards, covering 495 square meters, were newly-built bungalows containing 43 beds.

Over 100 firemen attended the blaze, which is still being investigated.
