Top seeded Chinese Zheng Jia needed two hours and 40 minutes to knock off world No. 52 Sesil Karatancheva of Bulgaria, earning a ticket at the last eight of the ITF Women's Circuit in Changsha on Wednesday.

Zheng, 94th in the world rankings, met troubles to face the 14-year-old qualifier Karatancheva in the beginning but turned the tables with her aggressive smashes and swift footwork.

"Karatancheva will soon become a superstar," Zheng said. "I wasa little bit out of pace at first, but later I concentrated on my game and tried to keep her running around the court."

Zheng's doubles partner Yan Zi claimed an easy 6-2, 6-1 victoryover Antonia Matic of Germany, and another Chinese Peng Shuai forced Yuka Youshida of Japan out of the game, 7-5, 7-5.

Camaille Pin from France swept past Yvonne Meusburger of Austria 6-2, 6-0, and Tzipora Obzier of Israel stopped Yang Shujing of China 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

In the doubles main draw, top seeded Chinese duo Li Ting/Sun Tiantian, the Chinese Taipei-Uzbekistan combination Chan Chin-Wei/Ivanna Isroilova, and South Korea's Chang Kyung-Mi/Kim Jin-Hee made it to the quarter-finals.
