    Coal mine explosion kills 8, injures 3 in SW China

    A blast in a private coal mine has killed eight and injured three others in Qujing City of southwest China's Yunnan Province.

    The blast occurred around 6:00 p.m. Monday at Dumu Village of the city's Qilin District when 11 miners were working underground.

    As of press time, rescuers had found all the 11 victims. Eight of them were dead and the other three were injured and immediately hospitalized.

    Local officials rushed to the site to direct rescue work soon after the accident happened.

    The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
