Eiffel Tower red for Chinese New Year
    ( 2003-12-16 17:07) (CRInews.com)

The Eiffel Tower is to turn red for a week next month to mark the Chinese New Year on January 24.

Giant lights will bathe the monument from that date as part of celebrations that will also include a traditional Chinese dragon parade along the Champs-Elysees.

Officials say the lights would still be working when President Hu Jintao visits the French capital three days after the Chinese New Year.

France in October launched a 10-month programme of cultural events dedicated to China.
