At least 20 dead in Brazil bus plunge
    ( 2003-12-17 16:25) (Agencies)

At least 20 people died and 42 people were injured on Tuesday when a bus fell down a 130-foot (40-metre) cliff in southeastern Brazil, police said.

The accident happened when the bus's driver lost control on a corner on the outskirts of the town of Diamantina, in the state of Minas Gerais.

A police spokesman said at least 20 people had died and the injured were in "serious condition."

Many of the passengers were traveling from Sao Paulo, southwest of Diamantina, on their way to the beach town of Fortaleza in northern Brazil, where they planned to see in the new year.
