    Bomb hoaxer detained in Beijing
    ( 2003-12-17 21:06) (Xinhua)

A man who created chaos in downtown Beijing with a fake bomb on Monday has been detained, Beijing police announced Wednesday.

Li Jun, a farmer from northeast China's Jilin province, brought a paper bag to an office building on the Fuxing Road in west Beijing and claimed there was a bomb in the bag and threatened to detonate it. The reception staff call the police immediately.

Li surrendered after a 15-minute negotiation with police and handed over the package, which turned out to be sand.

Li's target is a company in the building that he said had cheated him.
