Palestinian shot dead in West Bank: report

A Palestinian policeman is reported to have been killed in an incident on the West Bank.

The death comes as a closure of both the West Bank and Gaza continues ahead of a holiday in Israel.

A Palestinian policeman was killed in the West Bank town of Tulkarm after Israeli soldiers entered the town and began shooting in the direction of stone-throwers.

The 19-year-old man was struck as he stood in front of the police station, according to eye witnesses.

However, the Israeli army says he was shot after drawing a gun at the troops.

Tight security surrounds Israel in the lead-up to the Purim holiday, which ends on Monday.
