    Shanxi's coal output surges 17.45%

    North China's Shanxi Province, a leading coal producer of the country, produced 99.78 million tons of coal in the first quarter this year, up 17.45 percent year on year, statistics have shown.

    The province registered coal sales of 60.21 million tons in the first three months, a rise of 8.66 percent.

    The coal price was 204.08 yuan (US$24.67) a ton on average in the first quarter, up 33.7 yuan over the price in the same period of last year.

    The province exported 9.94 million tons, down 13.8 percent year on year.
